How come my verification has been declined?

Awarded applicants can be declined participation when they do not comply with the contest rules, as set out on the European Youth Portal.

For the travellers from Round 4, those awarded in 2020, the following rules apply:

You were not 18 years old while applying. Applicants had to be 18 years old on 31 December 2019, i.e. those young people born between 1 January 2001 (included) and 31 December 2001 (included).

You are not an EU citizen. Applicants have to have the nationality of one of the Member States of the European Union at the time of the award decision in January 2020. If you have a double nationality, make sure to use your EU Member State issued ID or Passport.

You uploaded a non-valid EU-issued ID or Passport. Applicants need to submit a valid ID or Passport, which correspondents with the data submitted on the application form. You might be declined because your national document is recognized as forged or fraudulent.

You uploaded a non-accepted document. Only EU Member State-issued national ID card and passports are accepted. Drivers licenses, birth certificates, student cards... are not acceptable documents.


For the travellers from Round 5, those awarded in January 2022, the following rules apply:

You were not 18 or 19 years old while applying. Applicants had to be 18 years old on 31 December 2021, i.e. those young people born between 1 January 2003 and 31 December 2003 included. Exceptionally for this round, those young people, who were eligible under the two rounds in 2020, which were cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic, can apply too. This implies those born between 1 July 2001 (included) and 31 December 2002 (included).
