From Finland to international cities

Finnish trains are run by the national train company Valtion Rautatiet (VR). As the country is situated in northern Europe we advise you to visit neighboring countries like Sweden, Norway or Estonia or combine your trip with travel by plane to your desired destination and use your Interrail pass from there.

Unfortunately, there are no direct trains from Finland to International cities. We advise you to take the ferry.

The easiest way to travel from Helsinki to Stockholm is by taking a ferry you can benefit from discounts for Tallink Silja Lines with your Interrail Pass.

Traveling to Finland

Each season Finland transforms itself into different landscapes. You can hike, kayak or canoe in the summer and autumn or observe animals in the forest. In the winter you can ski and try to catch the Northern Lights. Finland has many islands, castles, and saunas that are worth visiting. You can travel within Finland with the national railway VR. Note that all Finnish trains require seat reservations. We advise you to book your seat in advance.
